Stan Hywet Wedding

-Kyle and Courtney’s wedding was one of our most memorable weddings in so many ways. I’ve known Courtney since she was a teenager and she is one of the most beautiful, sweet and intelligent girls you could ever know. So, to see her with an amazing guy like Kyle (such a sense of humor too!) warms my heart and brings me so much joy.  They are the most unpretentious and down to earth couple. Their wedding, although stunningly beautiful, was not about the pomp and pageantry, but revolved around their relationship, their love of nature and close friends and family. Courtney and Kyle even changed their wedding date in order to make the day more convenient for their guests.

Courtney got ready in the carriage house at Stan Hywet surrounded by her mother and bridesmaids. She wore a perfectly tailored lace gown with delicate lace straps, princess neckline, and cathedral train. To complement her dress, Courtney wore crystal encrusted ballet flats and crystal earrings. Her ensemble was topped off by a sweet chignon complete with pretty petals. As the ceremony time approached, rain was on the radar and the coordinators at Stan Hywet went into full gear to move up the ceremony time to beat the rain. Courtney and Kyle’s family were incredibly supportive of their decision to go ahead with an outdoor ceremony. Courtney’s sister and maid of honor, Brooke, along with Kyle’s best man, Alan, were right there beside them throughout the ceremony protecting them from the rain when the skies opened up.

We always tell couples that no matter the weather, their day will be uniquely beautiful. And this was no exception! Several times rain was mentioned during the readings throughout the ceremony and the entire bridal party broke out into laughter. The emotion was palpable and along with the rain, resulted in one of the most beautiful ceremonies that we’ve had the pleasure of photographing. After the ceremony, the rain lifted and we had free rein to explore the exquisite grounds of Stan Hywet followed by a reception that incorporated this couple’s love of nature, from the birch-tree inspired cake decoration to the geode inspired centerpieces.
